Youth Services PDF Print E-mail

Youth Services offers opportunities, activities, and services to support the healthy development of youth and their families. Designed as a comprehensive approach, youth services focuses on three key areas: Academic achievement; Social and emotional development; and, economic development. This multi-component approach focuses on the positive development of youth, utilizing a strength-based method that starts with skills and interests of the youth. The program currently works within two school districts and on four school campuses, including North Avenue Elementary School, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Junior High School, Grant Union High School and the Las Palmas Education Skills Center. The program also provides targeted services to foster youth in the community around pre-emancipation and post emancipation needs.

Youth in our program are exposed to a plethora of services and components such as project based learning, youth sports leagues, college and career planning, youth employment, leadership development, student success, and volunteer and community involvement. A number of youth sit on an advisory body and provide the critical youth voice and input for program development.
